I received single-item orders which should have a gift, but did not. ("Buy Now"?)

- If your product page or other pages use "Buy Now" buttons, our app will not be able to add gifts to the orders made using these buttons. The reason for this is that "Buy Now" buttons have a completely separate checkout flow which ignores anything that's in the cart, and creates a temporary cart that only contains the selected item.

You can either add any gifts during fulfillment manually and continue to use the "Buy Now" buttons, or disable/hide these buttons.
