# Why are the  free gifts  visible in search?

- By default, the free gifts are excluded from search using a metafield that Shopify supports. When using certain search & filter apps, you may see the gifts visible in search because those apps do not follow the same rule regarding the metafield that Shopify does.

- While we have automatic tagging which instructs some search & filter apps to hide the gifts automatically, other apps do not offer such automated filtration. Namely, if you're using Omega Instant Search or Product Filter & Search by Boost then you'll need to modify that app's admin settings to ignore products tagged with "__hidden" (double underscore in front).
